About USAARL.

The United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) is located at Fort Rucker, AL,
the home of Army aviation. It is one of six laboratories within the U.S. Army Medical
Research and Materiel Command. USAARL was established in 1962 to provide direct aviation
medical research support to all Army Aviation and airborne activities. USAARL owns, maintains,
and operates a Black Hawk flight simulator (NUH-60FS) for conducting human factor research
focused on the performance and survival of rotary wing Warfighters.
The NUH-60FS Aeromedical Research Blackhawk Flight Simulator is the world’s only environmentally
controlled, full-motion, full-visual aeromedical research flight simulator.
The NUH-60FS plays a vital role in supporting USAARL’s commitment to the health and
safety of the aviators, the airborne Soldiers, and the ground Warriors by finding medical
solutions that reduce health hazards, prevent and mitigate injury, enhance performance, and
save lives.
