FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CATI Training Systems & DynaLantic Complete Apache CMS Upgrade.
Ozark, AL., January 31, 2022
Corp. (DLC), complete Apache AH-64A Combat Mission Simulator (CMS) Visual
System Upgrade with Advanced Image Generation Technology and Real-World
High-resolution Imagery.
The CMS upgrade included replacing the vintage 2003 visual system with a state-of-the-art COTS based CATI X-IG® Image Generator System and re-created the
training visual database utilizing high-resolution 50cm color balanced imagery
for a pre-computed emissive scene. There are over 65 million trees and more
than 64,000 features (3D structures) included in this database. CATI X-IG®
notable features include CUDA-Based FFT Sea State Modeling, Degraded Visual
Environment (DVE) Modeling and Tunable IR/TV/NVG effects. Preview a fly
through of this database on the CATI YouTube channel.
The Apache CMS features full motion 6 degrees of freedom motion legs with 60
inches of travel. Each crew member, pilot/co-pilot (gunner) has an individual
cockpit platform. Upgrades for the visuals include 3-OTW channels, Pilot Night
Vision System (PNVS), Target Acquisition and Designation Sights (TADS) and
Direct View Optics (DVO).
The AH-64A Apache CMS (device 2B40) located in the DynaFlight Training Center
in Ozark, AL is the last remaining fully operational Apache CMS full-flight
simulator worldwide. The Apache CMS was originally developed by Singer Link
around 1985. Only 10 AH-64A CMS Simulators were produced. Device 2B40,
serial number 10A/B was relocated to Ozark, AL in 2013 after it was
decommissioned by the Army National Guard in Marana, AZ. Several
enhancements have been completed by DLC over the years. These enhancements
allow for continued operation of the device with modern Commercial-of-the-Shelf
(COTS) computer hardware to facilitate maintenance and improve reliability. This
provides a cost-effective training solution.

About CATI Training Systems
CATI is headquartered in Ozark, AL, and was initially incorporated in 1992 as Carmel
Applied Technologies, Inc. CATI entered the competitive visual system providers
market in 1997 with an OpenGL™ Silicon Graphics (SGI) based image generator,
X–IG®. CATI Training Systems continues to provide engineering services and
products for government, commercial, and civilian organizations around the
world.
Today, CATI′s image generator solutions and UAS Training devices are all PC–
based. CATI′s image generators are specifically designed around industry standard
OpenGL™, a high-performance graphics Application Programming
Interface (API), and OpenFlight™, the 3D standard format for the visual simulation
industry.
The open design of X–IG® and X–Gen®, run on 100% Commercial-Off the
Shelf (COTS) PC–based hardware and software. This allows us to offer high-performance,
versatile capabilities for various types of training, testing, and
experimentation. X-IG® and its suite of associated tools and programs offer
superior image fidelity, realism, and ease of integration with most simulation
systems.
Every system CATI delivers provides unmatched ease of use, open architecture,
COTS tools, and flexible interface options as well as low acquisition, overhead,
and life cycle support costs.
